3 Brilliant Style Features That Will Transform Any Room

It was so exciting being a part of the transformation of this home!

Oftentimes I don’t get to see the house finished, styled and furnished. As a builder, I get to come in and do the things that clients can’t do, like knock down walls, extend rooms or add a pergola out the back. My clients often like to organise the finishes themselves, like the paint, carpet and blinds.

So it was a special treat to be able to return to this home after it was completed, to be able to see the property in use, complete with dog and toys!

I have got 3 brilliant style ideas to share with you from this job. Ideas that can work on a budget and can help to transform any space. Here they are:

Style Idea #1 - Ceiling Space

In Sydney, our weather is mild, and so we can raise those ceilings and rake them high. The effect is space. While there may not be any additional floor meterage, the extra space in the air certainly makes it feel a lot more roomy! If you can’t raise the ceiling, think about opening up your attic space, removing hallways or rearranging stairwells.

Style Idea #2 - Skylights

While I have my reservations about skylights (I have seen far too many leak and cause water damage!) I still think that the effect of skylights above are amazing, and these ones here above the stairwell are no exception. This one did have a little water trouble initially, but we got it all sorted in the end and the light streams in beautifully to all the areas.

Natural light streaming into your home will not only save you money on your electrical bill, but it is beneficial for your health and has enormous calming effects too.

Style Idea #3 - Modern Hardwood Balustrading

It does take a little extra carpentry skill to get it just right, and glass measurements for the glazier have to be just right too, but we reckon that little bit of extra effort has maximum effect. When you first walk in the door, the stairway is right there, but by adding a modern hardwood balustrade, it is not an obtrusive structure but rather a welcome sight to the eyes!

Going back and seeing the home in action it was evident that the build was a success. We are so happy to have had another satisfied client. Seeing a client finally able to achieve her dream home is one of the things that makes all the hard work worthwhile. And this is what she had to say:

We had Brad from Uplift Building undertake a major renovation of our home recently and we have been really happy with the result. Brad was very easy to work with, providing ideas and options along the way. The quality of the work was very high, it was completed in the agreed time frame and we love our renovated home.
